Set your organization’s working days, working hours, and shift structure - the schedule attendance and leave are calculated from.
Shift Mode is where administrators define the standard work schedule for the organization: which days are working days, when the workday starts and ends, and how many hours count as a full or half day. You can run a single schedule for everyone, or turn on Multiple Shifts if different employees or departments work at different times.
How to Access Shift Mode
Log in to the Admin Panel.
Go to Organization Settings → Leave & Attendance → Shift Mode.
Working Days
Choose which days your organization works.
Working Days - the days of the week counted as working days
Total Working Days per Week - the number of working days in a week
Working days must be set up before employees can apply for leave, since leave calculations depend on them.
Working Hours and Time
Set your standard daily schedule, used for attendance tracking.
Work Start Time - the official start of the workday
Work End Time - the official end of the workday
Standard Hours - the standard number of working hours in a day
Full Day and Half Day Hours
Set the minimum hours an employee must work for the day to count as a full day or a half day.
Full Day Hours - the minimum hours needed for a full day
Half Day Hours - the minimum hours needed for a half day
For example, if Full Day Hours is 8 and Half Day Hours is 4, an employee who works 6 hours is marked as a half day.
Shift Structure
Choose how your organization runs its schedule:
Single shift - everyone follows the standard working days and hours set above
Multiple Shifts - define several named shifts and assign employees to them, for organizations where people or departments work at different times
Multiple Shifts
When you turn on Multiple Shifts, you can:
Define the shifts your organization runs
Assign employees to shifts through the roster
Let employees swap shifts with colleagues, subject to approval
Day Shift is available as the default shift. To create and manage shifts, assign employees through rosters, or handle shift swaps, see Shift Management.
When Multiple Shifts is turned off, the standard working days and hours above apply to everyone.
Shift Compliance Rules
When Multiple Shifts is on, you can set rules to make sure employees get proper rest:
Maximum Consecutive Days - the most days in a row an employee can work
Maximum Consecutive Night Days - the most night shifts in a row an employee can work
Minimum Rest Between Shifts - the minimum rest time required between two shifts
Why it helps
One clear work schedule that attendance and leave are calculated from
Full-day and half-day rules are applied automatically, the same way for everyone
Run multiple shifts when your teams work different hours
Compliance rules help prevent overwork and make sure employees get enough rest
